The Daytime-Nighttime Appliance (DNA Appliance) is an innovative dental appliance that our dentist can use to treat a variety of oral problems. With one little appliance, our dentist can treat your:
- TMJ disorder (TMD) — Typically accompanied by headaches, jaw pain, neck pain, vision issues, lock-jaw, etc.
- Sleep Apnea Symptoms — A potentially life threatening condition, which also results in daytime sleepiness
- Breathing ability — Contributes to you focus, energy levels and quality of sleep
- Facial structure and balance — May eliminate the need for chin implants among other cosmetic surgeries
- Eliminates the need for teeth extraction in orthodontics – some orthodontists may recommend teeth being removed to make room for straight teeth, however, the DNA appliance can eliminate the need for teeth extraction.
What makes the DNA Appliance extraordinary is that all of these things can be accomplished without surgery, drugs, medication or injections!
How the DNA Appliance Works
The DNA Appliance is made by VIVOS and it works by expanding the arches, repositioning the jaw, making room for the tongue, and opening up the airway.
The DNA Appliance is removable just like a retainer, and is to be worn for approx. 14-16 hrs a day (not more). Patients are directed not to eat with it. And the total treatment time is typically about 18 months.
Once your jaw and arches are better positioned you would then begin treatment with our Candid Pro Clear Aligners to straighten your teeth through protraction (moving teeth forward) vs. retraction (pulling teeth backwards) which is what traditional orthodontics uses.
