Digital Images & X-Rays
At Exceptional Dentistry, our patients are more than just patients — they become part of our family, and we only use the best to treat our family. Our advanced technology makes your visits faster, more comfortable, more interactive and safer. Many patients express concern when it comes to X-rays, particularly about exposure to radiation. Dr. James Powell understands these concerns, and we care about our patients’ well-being, which is why we only use digital radiographs (X-rays).
Over the years, dental technology has advanced, and digital X-rays provide a way for our practice, and others, to improve the services we offer to our patients. During your visit, our dentist may use digital radiographs to access highly detailed images of your teeth, gums and jaw. These images can then be used to create a more detailed, accurate and personalized treatment plan for your unique smile and dental needs.
At our dental office in Palmdale, CA, we are pleased to utilize several different types of digital radiographs to provide you with high-quality dental care. These include:

Digital Radiographs (X-rays)
Digital radiographs contain 98% less radiation than traditional X-rays, making your treatment safer.
We use these at your annual checkup to be able to see in-between your teeth. We also utilize these if you have a dental emergency so we can see if there’s an infection, crack, or other things that we would not be able to see with the naked eye.
We’ll typically take a set of 6 images when it comes to traditional digital radiographs.
Panorex - Full Mouth Image
You know how most dentists use those 18 films? Not us. You just rest your chin, the machine goes around your head, and that’s it!
Not only is a pano a safe treatment, but it’s also way more comfortable for you.
Our expert dentist recommends that you get this full mouth image once every 3 years. This helps you maintain a preventative approach to your oral health.
Panos give the dentist a lot of information about your smile. He can see any problems your teeth or bones may be experiencing early-on. The sooner you catch issues, the less pain you’ll experience & the more affordable the treatment is.

Galileos - 3D Digital Scan
This system produces high-definition, 3D digital scan of your head and mouth.
It gives our expert dentist the most information possible — showing sinus issues, gum disease, jaw issues, and root canal issues.
At our practice, we use also use this to guide our dental implant procedures. This ensures that your implant is accurately placed, which ultimately helps your implant last longer and provide proper function.
